Home of the PieEater

Hartfield, a lovely village in East Sussex, is probably the best place in the world to visit, to live, or to know about. Famous for 2 things, Winnie the Pooh was written there and Brian Jones of the Rolling Stones died there. So as you can imagine the place gets a fair few tourists a year. With a population of about 1500 people, it is one of the prettiest villages in the South East of England. Local services include a general store, a tourist store, two pubs in the village centre, a school, florist, post office etc. The village has active Football, Cricket, Tennis and Stoolball clubs and there is always something happening. For a local dweller the only place to find out what is really happening is in the public bar of the Anchor Inn, a traditional English pub serving all the drinks you could want, and the best steak sandwich I have ever tasted. Situated in a 15th century building, the pub certaintly has atmosphere, and it is one place you can sip a pint and listen, or join in with the fun at the bar. High points include traditional blues evenings, the best New Years Eve in England, and one of the most loyal band of regulars in the universe. Imagine driving 400 miles to sleep in a barn, just to have a beer. Yes it has been done.......

Bout the Pie Eater

So, you want to know about me, tough! Not much to report really, 28, English, own teeth and hair, drinker, smoker and I have a vicious sense of humour spawned by too many years of reading Viz. What else do you want to know? I have a life, I work for a world leading software house, but I can only tell you their name via e-mail, so send me a message if you want to know. We are currently recruiting worldwide for anyone who is good, if you know RPG, Oracle, Clarion etc, then let me know and I'll tell you how to get in (also I get a bounty on each person I sign, so I'll buy the beers, food, whatever.

About the Area

So where is it? Situated at the North of the Ashdown Forest in East Sussex, 8 miles from Tunbridge Wells, 8 miles from east Grinstead and 6 miles from Crowborough. There is a bus service once every 2 hours, and you can always hitchhike there. I spent 1 year hitchhiking to and from work, so I know it can be done. Nearby attractions include Hever Castle, Bolebroke Castle, the Ashdown forest and of course A.A.Milne's house. Also within walking distance of the village is Poohsticks Bridge, unfortunately not the original, as that passed away many years ago. I will try and get some decent pictures, but that means I have to get back to UK, and I don't have the time just yet. I will be there for New Years Eve 1999 though to give everyone the best party they have ever had. This page dedicated to the memory of my mother, and to my family, who I miss, but I know they are with me always.

OK, new stuff!

The changing news site type thing (ish), and no elks.:
